The short version

Your files stay on your device. Our tools run inside your browser, so the PDFs and images you drop are never uploaded to us, and we never see them. We count how the site is used, without your files, file names or anything you type, so we can make it better. No ads, and we never sell data.

Your files

Every tool on PocketPDFs today runs on your device. When you drop a file, your browser processes it locally and hands the result straight back to you as a download. The file, its name, its contents and any password you type stay on your device.

When you move a file from one tool to the next (for example, the home page or "Do more with this file"), it is kept briefly in your browser's own storage (IndexedDB) so the next page can pick it up. It is removed when the next page reads it. It never leaves your device.

If we add tools that need our server in future (for example Word to PDF), the tool page will say so clearly before you use it. Those files travel over an encrypted connection, are held only while they are converted, and are deleted as soon as the conversion finishes. We don't keep copies.

Usage statistics

We use PostHog (EU servers) to understand which tools people use and where they get stuck. We record things like:

We never record file names, file contents, page images, passwords or anything you type.

Unless you say yes, this counting is cookieless: nothing is stored in your browser to recognise you, and PostHog groups visits using a value that changes every day, so we can't follow you from one day to the next.

If you choose "Allow" when we ask (only after you have used a tool), PostHog stores an anonymous ID in your browser so we can tell whether people come back, and may record how the page is used with all text, inputs, images and page previews hidden. You can change your choice at any time with "Privacy choices" at the bottom of every page.

Hosting

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any website host, Cloudflare processes your IP address and basic request details to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks.

What we don't do

Your rights and contact

You can ask what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by writing to privacy@pocketpdfs.com. Because we don't record names, emails or files, there is usually nothing that identifies you.
